The Amalfi Coast is a corner of Paradise that deserves particular attention and care.
As every other place in the world, you may need some tips from an insider to enjoy it at its best.
The first suggestion is to try to avoid to use the car to cover short distances.
The roads of the Divine Coast are winding and shocking because of their beauty. The "Amalfitana drive" is hair rising, for some is vertigo inducing too. It's easy to realize you can enjoy much more the sceneries using the public transportation.
At less than one hundred meters from the villa, there is the "Castiglione" bus stop of the "Sita". This is the local company that offers this service on the Amalfi Coast and in the Sorrento Peninsula.
Once you're at this stop, you can get to Ravello, Scala and Pontone using the coaches coming from Amalfi (and viceversa, by the ones leaving from Ravello) or reach Amalfi getting on the buses coming from Salerno or Maiori (and viceversa, finding on the route the villages of Minori, Cetara and Vietri sul Mare).
Amalfi is the starting point for the buses going towards Sorrento and stopping in Conca dei Marini, Praiano and Positano.
Unico Costiera is the name of the tickets (for single rides or mini subscriptions) you've to purchase in the bars - newspapers magazines that are offical resellers. Once you get on the bus, they've to be convalidated. There is no chance to buy them when you're onboard.

An interesting alternative to the Sita service is the sea transport. From Amalfi, it's possible to get to Positano, Sorrento, Capri, Napoli (some of these routes are active only in specific periods of the year), Minori, Maiori and Salerno by ferry.
You can easily get to the places in the fastest and most comfortable way and the perspective of the coast from the sea is truly unforgettable.
Tickets have to be purchased on the quai before the departure.
